Haryana govt to develop film city in Pinjore: CM Saini

During an address at the film festival being held at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Saini announced that government will set up a film city on a 100-acre site at
Pinjore located in Panchkula is the first phase of the project. On Saturday, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said the state government is working or to develop the film city in two phases for the benefits of film industry and the regional artists. Land has already been identified for the project and the process on appointing a consultant is being initiated whereby the work on the film city will start soon. “

The chief minister said efforts would be made to telecast a Haryanvi film every week on Doordarshan, along the coordination with Prasar Bharati. “Responsibility of introducing and developing courses of filmmaking in all the universities in the state will be given to Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA), Rohtak. The education department will also work to introduce theatre education in schools,” CM said.

Saini stated in regard to a request to restore single-screen theaters, that the Haryana government has established a Film Promotion Board to develop regional cinema, and that the board will work with the department of art and cultural affairs to move the initiative forward.
