
Why Indian Market Falls Today ?
Stock market crash today: The Indian stock market saw a huge sell-off on Monday, April 7, in line with the patterns in major global markets during the rising fears of a global trade war due to US President Donald Trump announcing reciprocal tariffs.
The Sensex sell-off resulted in a fall of nearly 4,000 points, while the Nifty 50 fell below 21,750 in early trading.After significant losses, the Sensex ended the day down 2,227 points or 2.95 percent at 73,137.90, and the Nifty 50 closed down 743 points or 3.24 percent at 22,161.60.Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty Bank index fell 3.19 percent and the Financial Services index decreased 3.49 percent.
Metal lost 6.75 percent, Realty dropped 5.69 percent, Media was down 3.94 percent, Auto dropped 3.78 percent, Private Bank fell 3.47 percent, PSU Bank lost 2.84 percent, Pharma fell 2.75 percent, and IT decreased by 2.51 percent.
The BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices closed down 3.46 percent and 4.13 percent, respectively.Also, the India VIX volatility index surged 66 percent to close at 22.8, indicating extremely high nervousness in the market.
